Special Event—Food for Thought: A Journey Through Food History, Culture & Taste; Partnering with Auburn University's Rural Studio and Black Belt Food Project of Greensboro during a recent October weekend, Newbern Library used a grant from the NEH through the Alabama Humanities Alliance to host speakers and chefs to explore food history & traditions. The event concluded with a special lunch featuring local produce, with flavors of West & North African cooking.

The Summer Reading Program kicked off again this summer with the annual Festival under a large tent with multiple activities related to the theme "Oceans of Possibilities." Other Highlights of 2022 included: book signings, art shows, children's STEM activities, pottery and weaving classes, lots of new books (including eBooks!), new desktop computers and technological devices for circulation.

Newbern Library Forms Partnership with the Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art. Through its "Museum in Motion" program, the library hosted a book reading and created a collage made by reading festival participants.
